There's a lot of door knock roofers in the area seeking work at the moment. 1. Are they properly licensed? 2. Are they actually local, or are they out-of-towners working from a satellite office? 3. Are they advising they can "assist you with your insurance claim"? 

1. A business license doesn't make them actually "licensed".

2. Most door knockers are working for companies not home based locally. The market dries up, this office is closed. Your warranty just became a worthless piece of paper. 

3. Tennessee has UPPA laws. (Unauthorized practice of Public Adjusting) This means that unless the individual is a true licensed Public Adjuster, they can not assist in your claim in any way. In all actuality, they can't legally solicit for an insurance claim. IF they commit insurance fraud in the process of assisting in your claim, you are opening the door for them to not only get themselves in trouble, they can also cause YOU to be in trouble. Don't allow that to happen!

We are finding out that there's some roofers providing extremely low priced estimates. Pricing we haven't seen in 10 years type of low. Typically, if something seems to good to be true, it's because it is! Businesses aren't in business to lose money. How are they getting their price so low? BEATS US! But, corners HAVE TO be getting cut! 

If your gut says to think about it, I'd trust it! I'd trust your gut more than the roof that could be placed on your home!
