Delaminated 3/8" Plywood Sheathing
Delaminated plywood occurs when the layers of the roof sheathing begin to separate, weakening the roof deck and its ability to properly hold roofing fasteners. Signs may include a wavy roof appearance, visible separation, or deterioration discovered during shingle removal. Damaged or delaminated sheathing should be evaluated and replaced when necessary before new roofing materials are installed.
Excessively Gapped Board Roof Decking
Older homes may have board roof decking with gaps between individual boards. Excessive gaps can prevent roofing fasteners from achieving proper attachment and may not meet shingle manufacturer installation requirements. The roof deck should be evaluated before installation and corrected when necessary to provide a suitable nailing surface for the new roofing system.
