The agent's "Preferred Contractor" initially sent....
The property owner's agent sent their "preferred" roofer to initially inspect this roof. He said 10 tabs needed to be repaired. In 2 minutes I said there wouldn't be a matching shingle available and needed to be fully replaced. Had this homeowner not sought someone will the proper experience to reevaluate his roofs condition and left it in the hands of his agent, he would have no choice but to be left with a decision of an improper repair or an out-of-pocket roof replacement.
Coming from a time when we were carrier preferred vendors (that didn't last long since we wouldn't say we didn't see damage), most carrier sent contractors are there to minimize your claim. (Not saying this agent meant to even do it, but I know 1st hand how things are done) When filing a claim, if you are asked if you want a "program contractor" to be sent, say ABSOLUTELY NOT!
